Some evenings call for a really good glass of wine. Others call for seven extraordinary wines, a special guest from Italy, and a deep dive into one of the most celebrated wine regions in the world.

This is definitely the latter.

We're thrilled to welcome Elisa Musso of La Spinetta and Contratto to The Wine Whisperer for a very special evening exploring the wines of Piemonte and Tuscany, from beautifully expressive reds and iconic single-vineyard bottlings to some seriously spectacular Italian sparkling wines.

La Spinetta has earned an international reputation for producing wines that are as distinctive as they are delicious, particularly its celebrated Barbaresco and Barolo. Contratto, meanwhile, brings more than a century of sparkling wine history to the table, crafting traditional-method wines that give Champagne lovers plenty to think about.

Together, these two estates offer a fascinating look at the Rivetti family’s winemaking traditions, its remarkable vineyards, and the people who continue to push the region forward.

Elisa will guide us through seven wines, sharing the stories behind the vineyards, the producers, and the bottles themselves. We'll explore the elegance and power of aged Nebbiolo, the versatility of Barbera, the charm of Moscato, and the extraordinary craftsmanship behind Contratto's sparkling wines.

We’re honored to welcome Brenae Royal, founder of Violet’s Paradise, to Wine Whisperer for a multi-course dinner celebrating her deeply personal collection of wines. Brenae spent more than a decade working among the vines of Monte Rosso Vineyard, one of California’s most historic sites, before returning to its fruit to create wines under a label of her own.

This is more than a wine dinner. It’s an evening about land, legacy, and what can happen when someone knows a vineyard well enough to let it speak.

Five Generations, One Very Good Wine Story: An Evening with Joe Glunz

Some families pass down recipes. Others pass down jewelry, furniture, or a slightly questionable collection of holiday decorations. The Glunz family? They've been passing down a love of wine for more than 130 years. And we think they've got the right idea.

We're delighted to welcome Joe Glunz of Glunz Family Winery & Cellars to The Wine Whisperer for a special evening exploring the wines, vineyards, and stories behind this remarkable family operation.

The Glunz family's wine journey began in Chicago in 1888, and five generations later, they've made their home among the rolling hills of Paso Robles, California. Today, they're crafting beautiful, small-production wines that celebrate some of the Central Coast's most exciting vineyards, with a particular affection for Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and a few very lovely whites.

Joe will be joining us to share a selection of the family's wines, along with the stories that make them special. Expect delicious pours, a little California sunshine in your glass, and the chance to spend an evening with someone who has wine quite literally in his DNA.

Whether you're a longtime Paso Robles enthusiast or simply enjoy discovering something wonderful, we'd love for you to join us.

There are great wines, and then there are wines that make you want to understand exactly where they came from.

Join us at Vino Market for a very special Collector’s Tasting featuring the wines of Catena Zapata, one of Argentina’s most important and influential wine estates. We’ll be joined by AnnMarie Sgori, Catena Fine Wine Specialist in the U.S., for a deep dive into the extraordinary high-altitude vineyards of Mendoza and the tiny differences in soil, elevation, climate, and site that can completely transform what ends up in your glass.

We’ll begin with Catena’s Alta Chardonnay, Alta Malbec, and Alta Cabernet Sauvignon before moving into some of the estate’s most coveted wines: Adrianna Vineyard White Bones Chardonnay, Nicolás Catena Zapata Red Blend, and Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec.

This is where the evening gets really fun. The Adrianna Vineyard has become one of the great laboratories for understanding Argentine terroir, and tasting these wines side by side gives us the chance to explore why particular parcels can produce wines with such distinct personalities—and why Catena’s top vineyards have helped change the way the wine world thinks about Argentina.

We’ll taste slowly, ask plenty of questions, and get wonderfully nerdy about altitude, limestone, alluvial soils, Malbec, Chardonnay, and the idea of Grand Cru-level terroir in the Andes.

Whether you already collect Catena or simply want the chance to taste some truly remarkable bottles with someone who knows them intimately, this is going to be a very special night at Vino Market.

A Napa Valley Collector’s Tasting with Andrew Bradbury Featuring Schrader, Double Diamond & Mt. Veeder Winery $50 per person | Floating Tasting | The Wine Whisperer

Friends, there are wine tastings—and then there are nights when someone starts opening bottles that make you quietly rearrange your plans.

This is the second kind.

We’re welcoming Andrew Bradbury to The Wine Whisperer for a seriously special floating tasting featuring Schrader Cellars, Double Diamond, and Mt. Veeder Winery. And when we saw the lineup for this one, our response was pretty simple: yep. We need to do this.

If you love Napa Cabernet, you really need to taste these wines.

We’ll ease into things with Double Diamond Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc before getting to the reason most of us are here: Cabernet. And not just a parade of big Napa Cabs that all taste vaguely like one another. This lineup gives us a chance to really dig into place—mountain fruit versus Oakville, different vineyards, different vintages, and some very, very good winemaking.

We’ll taste Double Diamond Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon alongside two expressions from Mt. Veeder Winery, including their Reserve Cabernet. It’s a chance to taste what happens when we move from the valley floor up into the mountains, and we think the comparison alone is worth showing up for.

But then Andrew is going to open the really fun stuff.

We’re pouring Schrader Wappo Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, followed by two wines connected to perhaps the most famous vineyard name in Napa Valley: To Kalon. We’ll have the 2022 To Kalon HWC Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and 2022 To Kalon Eliza’s Red open and ready to taste.

Thomas Rivers Brown: An Intensive Tasting with Patrick Ladd 5:30 PM or 7:30 PM | The Wine Whisperer

Every once in a while, we get to put together a tasting where we look at the lineup and think: you really, really need to come drink these wines with us.

This is one of those tastings.

We’re welcoming Patrick Ladd to The Wine Whisperer for an intensive look at the wines of Thomas Rivers Brown, one of the most respected and sought-after winemakers working in California today. If you know TRB, you already understand why we’re excited. If you don’t, this is a pretty spectacular way to meet him.

Brown made his name crafting extraordinary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, but that’s only part of the story. His work stretches across some of California’s most compelling vineyards and producers—and this lineup gives us a rare chance to taste just how much range he has.

We’ll put two very different Chardonnays on the table: Rivers-Marie Joy Road and the seriously special Pulido~Walker Chardonnay. From there, we’ll head to the Sonoma Coast for Rivers-Marie Summa Vineyard Pinot Noir, before finishing in Napa with Mending Wall Red Blend and Caterwaul Phelan Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena.

In other words, we are not messing around.

This is Amber's 25th year as a cheerleader for the Virginia Wine industry, and she's got stories. This Winesday is a little different from the regular ole Winesday, so the ticket price is a touch more. For $25, you'll sample 9 wines and enjoy meeting the folks who bring them to life. Wine Club members, you'll get a BOGO (that's a Buy-One-Get-One Free discount) for your tickets using the special code we send you. Tasting windows are one hour each so no one has to fight through a crowd to get to a table. Please come during your assigned window so that we can allow for everyone to have an enjoyable experience.
